The natural leather we use is primarily smooth, sometimes tanned. This type of leather has special characteristics, such as breathability, adaptation to the shape of the foot, and durability.
Insole: Natural leather
Natural leather can be recognized by its untreated surface. BIRKENSTOCK deliberately does not treat the surface grain or other characteristics. BIRKENSTOCK uses durable leather with a thickness of 2.8 to 3.2 millimeters as its upper material.
Insole material: cork
Cork is a sustainable material extracted from the bark of the cork oak. This natural product is insulating and provides excellent cushioning.
Sole: Rubber
Thanks to its high elasticity, rubber is ideal for soles. This property promotes the natural movement of the foot. It is also very durable and offers good cushioning.
